Client-Led Programme Development

The Preferred Activities chart generated from a recent survey shows that clients most enjoy animal care, social connection, and cooking and sharing meals, with strong interest in gardening, arts and crafts, and calm outdoor environments. These preferences highlight the therapeutic value of purposeful, creative, and social activity — all central to mental-health recovery.

In response, Wick Care Farm is expanding nature walks, wildlife sessions, and outdoor mindfulness, helping clients reduce anxiety and strengthen connection with nature. We’re increasing woodwork, and  exploring the use of photography, music, and drama in sessions to nurture creativity and self-expression — proven to boost confidence and emotional wellbeing.

We’re also introducing skill-building pathways and small certificates for some clients where appropriate, giving clients a sense of progress and achievement that supports self-esteem. New community roles at open days and events foster belonging and purpose, while wellbeing spaces like the sensory garden and light physical activities encourage relaxation and gentle movement.

Every improvement is shaped by client voice, ensuring our programme grows in ways that feel supportive, enjoyable, and person-centred — directly addressing mental-health needs through connection, creativity, and nature.
