Wick Care Farm
How to become a Friend of Wick Care Farm!
Get involved in fundraising!
Friends are welcome to join our Fundraising Committee, who help to coordinate our community events, fairs, grant applications and other fundraising efforts.
You can also provide ad-hoc support for events without joining the Fundraising Committee (such as baking a cake or volunteering on the day!)
And if you'd like to fundraise independently on behalf of Wick Care Farm, just let us know!

Or there are many ways to volunteer...
Volunteer
Wick Care Farm is also supported by a wider team of wonderful volunteers, whose diverse skills, knowledge and experience continues to shape the farm today.
Volunteers can get involved with the farm in any number of ways depending on their skills, interests and aims. This may include:
-
Client support volunteering: During our regular client hours, volunteers can work alongside staff to facilitate activities (animal care, horticulture, cooking, etc) and provide support to clients over the course of the day. Client-support volunteers have constant support and guidance from the full-time staff team.
-
Weekend / out-of-hours volunteering: Some volunteers work on the farm outside of a client-facing role. This may include weekend / out-of-hours animal care, or supporting the farm with general DIY / maintenance. We also welcome volunteers who may be interested in behind-the-scenes support with things like admin, marketing or social media.
-
Offering skills/training: If you are a trainer in any relevant skills such as First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety or a specific Mental Health Condition and would like to offer a session in a voluntary capacity, please get in touch. Similarly, if you have experience in teaching anything else that might be applicable to WCF — such as rural crafts or care skills, we'd love to hear from you!
-
Steering Committee: Our Steering Group meet quarterly, providing valuable support, guidance, advice to our directors.
-
Fundraising Committee: Our Fundraising Committee help to coordinate our fairs, community events and other fundraising efforts. They also manage grant applications – previously successful grant applications include the People's Postcode Lottery and the National Lottery Awards for All England!
We are able to support a limited number of placements for Occupational Therapy students. Volunteering enquiries from young people undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh award are also welcome.
If you'd like to enquire about volunteering, please contact us!
Note: Wick Care Farm is unable to provide short-term work experience.

Donations
We are incredibly grateful for all of the donations we have received since our inception. Money received is spent on capital items which make a great difference to the activities we are able to deliver. From fundraising, donations and two grants we have been able to refurbish the meeting rooms, install a new kitchen, build a new greenhouse and purchase a toasty new log-burner! These improvements have transformed our space — allowing people to be more easily and comfortably involved in the day at Wick Care Farm.
We have received money from the Co-op Community Fund to build an outdoor work space – work as begun so watch this space for updates!
We are now actively fundraising for a quiet room which will provide a space for clients as well as a confidential room for meetings and office work. This will provide a space for anyone who may require it, as well as a setting for confidential discussions and meetings.
How to donate
To make a monetary donation, please contact us.
Donations of physical items are also appreciated, and we would not have been able to manage without the generous donations of a few important items. We are particularly looking for:
-
Timber for raised beds
-
Gardening tools
-
Woodworking tools
-
Hardware items
-
Cooking implements
-
Spare waterproof trousers and work boots of any size
If you'd like to arrange to donate a physical item to Wick Care Farm, please get in touch.
